George III silver gilt wine bottle coaster. Made by Edward Farrell in London in 1817. Everted leaf and scroll rim; open bottom inset with concentric wood liner. Sides in relief in style of Teniers, the dynasty of Dutch painters famous for scenes of popular life: In one, a party of gentle folk raise fists and sticks against a defenseless peasant boy. In other, a man leads a donkey draped with the body of a man who is dead (dead drunk?). Asymmetrical leafing-scroll cartouche engraved with armorial.
