Pair of Contemporary cast silver bamboo candlesticks. Made by Patrick Mavros in Zimbabwe. Each: Leafing and budding stalks with snapped-off bits; socket has irregular grass border. The bamboo here is not a symbol of exoticism but an everyday plant that flourishes in the silversmiths native Africa. Marks include maker stamp and English date letter for 2002; bobeches have 1997 date letter. Very good condition with deep patina.
