Japonesque mixed metal and sterling silver water pitcher. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1880. Straight sides with curved shoulder and s-scroll handle; short and straight neck with lip spout. Spot-hammered ground with applied ornament: meandering leafing branches and tendrils and pendant mokum gourds. Large dragonfly with bulging exophthalmic eyes and a couple discreetly darting butterflies. Fully marked including makers stamp, pattern no. 3859, and phrase Sterling-Silver / And / Other-Metals.
